Schema Therapy has proven to be effective in treating personality disorders. An important ingredient of ST is the use of experiential techniques such as Imaginative Rescripting and the focus on traumatic childhood memories. Therefore Imaginative Rescripting seems to be an effective treatment of PTSD and currently the effectiveness of this special technique is compared with EMDR in treating complex PTSD.

In this workshop participants will learn how to treat both PTSD based on recent traumas and complex PTSD based on early childhood memories.

Questions that will be adressed are ‘What if the patient doesn’t want to close her eyes?’, ‘What if the therapist feels powerless to change the traumatic event?’ or ‘What if the patient want to change the aggressor in a more ideal person?’
