PERSONAL STATEMENT

I have had the opportunity to serve as the board Secretary for the last 2 years and I am seeking to be elected for a second term. I am a Clinical Psychologist, based in Perth, Western Australia. I completed advanced certification in schema therapy at the Schema Therapy Institute in New York City in 2007.

I currently share my time as Senior Clinical Psychologist within a specialist government service working with those who have experienced recent or childhood sexual trauma. I am also director of “Schema Therapy Training Australia”, providing supervision, workshops and schema therapy accreditation training in throughout Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. I have recently Co Edited a specialist training DVD release “Fine Tuning Imagery Rescripting”.

So, why vote for me... In a short period, the organization has made gigantic leaps in size of membership, structure and resources. I am committed to helping the International Society of Schema Therapy continue to be a more thriving, interactive and supportive organization. Furthermore, I am committed to help the society to show real value for money in membership. I believe that the board has a very crucial role in assisting members to feel included in their society, and have their “membership needs” better met. In my last candidacy, I assisted in the development and co-editing of the Schema Therapy Bulletin (the ISST official publication). I hope to continue to assist the board and membership in providing more of such resources to members (for example webinar presentations), as well as fostering more collegiality within the society.

On a personal level, I am committed to acting as a board member in a way that is consisted to the tenants of limited re-parenting. I believe openness and warmth, coupled with principled and ethical practice is important to model within the society, an approach that I have used in my ISST board work thus so far.
