Surrender to the Charms of Barcelona
Barcelona, Spain was awarded to be the host of the 2017 ISST Summer School, topping a poll from ISST members. It is a city proud of its cultural past, and confident about its future. Barcelona is an unrivaled visitor destination, with dazzling art and architecture, world-renowned cuisine, amazing weather, and warm hospitality. On the shores of the Mediterranean, Barcelona boasts one of the best-preserved medieval quarters in Europe, and the finest collection of Modernista architecture anywhere in the world.
With a new airport terminal and a new high-speed train connection between major European cities, Barcelona is easy to access from most major transportation hubs. Choices will satiate all of your senses, with historical landmarks, parks, museums, and beaches to satisfy. Tour the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Parc Güell, and see the city’s most iconic building, the Sagrada Familia, followed by the Musey Picasso, housed in five interconnected Gothic palaces. So much more awaits you in a city where you will want to linger over a coffee in a medieval square, or relax in a magnificent park or a Montjuïc garden. The 2017 ISST Summer School Offers 2 Types of Training:
1. Spanish Certification Track Option: a track with 18 hours of the 40 hour training curriculum requirement for ISST Schema Therapy Certification can be registered for at a special certification track rate (valid only if you register for all three days of certification; otherwise, the open track rate applies).

The certification track was designed primarily for attendees fluent in Spanish, but others may register for days 2 and 3 on a first-come basis, since space is limited (the open track rate would apply if you mix the certification and open track options).
2. Open Tracks Option: These workshops provide either Advanced training that can meet continuing education hours required to maintain ISST Certification status, or training in the speciality areas of Schema Therapy that can count toward ISST specialty certification. Some tracks will be offered with Spanish translation. You may choose 1 track for each of the 3 days, choosing from a mix of the Open Tracks or Certification Track Options (Open Track rate). Space is limited for each track, so register early to guarantee your first choice.
Round Table Discussion: In addition, Summer School in Barcelona will include a Round Table Discussion, led by Jeff Young and various international experts in schema therapy. Arnoud Arntz will also present a workshop with the latest research findings on using schema therapy in clinical settings.
- Joan Farrell, our Executive Board Training & Certification Coordinator, and Paul Kasyanik, our Executive Board Science & Research Coordinator, drafted the workshop proposals and content, and will be spearheading the overall Summer School program.
- Jordi Cid, our local contact member in Barcelona, has been working hard to help locate an ideal venue and to help make arrangements for the many Summer School programs.
- Eckhard Roediger, our Executive Board Treasurer, is working on the financial details and practical matters.
- Travis Atkinson, our Executive Board Public Affairs Coordinator, will be promoting Summer School to attract a large gathering.
- Wendy Behary will head the Ambassador Program, and assist in other Summer School needs.
- Carlos Rojas and Matias Valente will be assisting with the certification track in Spanish, and other organizational matters.
Together with the rest of the Executive Board, we will put together a summer school program to delight your curiosity for learning, connecting, and exploring with your fellow schema therapy colleagues.

- Registration is SOLD OUT: If you have already registered, click the dates at the top of the page to see the schedule. Your selections are reserved, and will be encoded on a QR code located on your name tag.
- Options: Registration covered three options
1. The 3-Day Certification Program. Certification credit is available for each day you complete (certification rate)2. The Open Track options (open track rate)3. A mix of Open Track options, and include one or two days of the certification program: (open track rate)
- Not a member? If you registered but are not yet a member, be sure to complete our new member application. If you are approved as a member, your discount rate will be applied, and we'll refund the difference to you if you email us with your request. Go to: JOIN US
Cancellation: If you are not able to attend Summer School in Barcelona after registering, you are entitled to a refund, minus a €50 processing fee, if you notify us via email and receive an email confirmation from us that we received your request before May 7, 2017. After May 7, 2017, there will be no refunds allowed. Not attending Summer School does not entitle you to a refund. For details, or to notify us of a change, please contact the ISST Office at: |
