"THE healthy adult mode: what is it, exactly, and what does it do?"

WORKSHOP BY remco van der wijngaart, guido sijbers & judith vanhommerig

Aims:
One of the most important goals in schema therapy is to strengthen the Healthy Adult Mode. Despite many references to the mode of the Healthy Adult, there is not much literature on the methods and techniques that help the patient to identify this healthy mode and the process of learning specific healthy adult behaviour.

This workshop will answer questions like:

  • How can the patient learn what the Healthy Adult looks like?
  • How does a Healthy Adult deal with trigger situations and regulate emotions?

Summary:
A straightforward step-by-step program will be presented that enables patients to visualize and apply their Healthy Adult in trigger situations. After a demonstration by the presenters the participants will have a chance to practice the step-by-step program of the Healthy Adult themselves in small groups. Throughout the workshop different audio visual aids will be used as illustrations of the topics discussed. Participants can be assured that this workshop will be both an interesting learning experience as well as a joyful one in which their Happy Child and Healthy Adult will be strengthened.

Learning Objectives:
Participants will have a better understanding what the Healthy Adult mode looks like and experienced the ways to identify this mode. Participants will have a better understanding of the steps a Healthy Adult needs to make and will have practised this. Participants will have had a learning experience full of fun in a relaxed atmosphere.

The workshop is intended for: Beginners and Advanced
