Brief Schema Therapy Protocol:

Experiential Protocol

Dates: Thursday - Friday, March 23-24, 2023

Presenter: Dr. Kirsty Gillings

Workshop Description:

Over recent years session limits for psychotherapy in public & private insurance mental health care have reduced. In the UK, clinicians within the NHS are required to provide treatments for those with complex trauma and personality disorders often within a limited time-frame. This workshop provides training on a brief (20 sessions) experiential schema therapy treatment programme designed for delivery in individual or group modalities.

A summary of the evidence-base supporting schema therapy short term protocols for those with characterological difficulties will be provided. The full range of experiential techniques including imagery rescripting, chairwork, historical role play and letter-writing will be covered. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the protocol first-hand with the invitation to participate in self-therapy exercises (e.g., experiential psychoeducation). Further, we will address how to adapt the protocol for safe and effective delivery in the online environment.
