PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am honored to be nominated as Vice-President.

I am dedicated to fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, a key role being the Co-ordinator in the Executive Board for organizing the ISST’s Inspire 2020 Conference in Copenhagen.

For our Inspire 2020 Conference in Copenhagen, I have taken on the Co-ordinator role for organizing it. The dates, venue and budget has been chosen and approved by the Executive Board.

As a consultant psychiatrist, M.D. and director of the Schema Therapy Denmark Aps., an institute and clinic. Through the Institute, I have provided ISST approved ST certification training programs and supervision both in Individual and Group ST as well as stand- alone workshops and supervision in Denmark and other countries.

I am dedicated to Schema Therapy and our society the ISST. I was trained and supervised by Jeffrey Young at his first international training program in 2006.

I have solid organizational experience from the following:

  • President of the Danish Behavioral & Cognitive Society for 2 periods (4 years). Have organized the annual society conferences in collaboration with other Board Members.
  • Member of the Executive Board of the Danish Society for Certified Medical Specialists, a society with 5.000 members.
  • Medical Director of the Staff Development & Quality Assurance Department at a large Danish university hospital with 1.200 employees of all relevant professions.

My department organized and lead the first 2 international accreditations of the entire hospital by the American Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Was in charge of numerous large-scale meetings and conferences for the hospital organization.

Contributions to Schema Therapy and ISST:

  • Member of the Case Conceptualization Committee having recently sent out the New Case Conceptualization form, guide and filled-in example for the ISST.
  • Member of the Supervisor Skills Development Committee.
  • Chair of the Quality Assurance Committee.
  • Organized a 2-year Certifying Psychotherapy Specialist Training Program in schema therapy for psychologists and psychiatrists in Denmark.
  • Organizes a 1-year education in individual & group schema therapy for the Copenhagen University Hospitals’ Psychiatric Competence Center.

I have a strong commitment to Schema Therapy and ISST. My work in the ISST-committees and previous professional experiences has fueled my interest to contribute to our Society by active participation on the Executive Board.

I will devote the energy and time to hold the chief responsibility for coordinating an inspiring, enjoyable and efficiently led 2020 Conference in Copenhagen. Will organize initiatives to make everyone feel welcome such as connect groups for new participants and others who would like to join in. Will work for a program with a range of workshops/seminars to meet the participants span of schema therapy experience.

I will work for the members in a thorough way and will contribute to the Executive Board with my organizational experience and a spirit of collaboration and openness.
