PERSONAL STATEMENT-Magdalena Kitlowska- Running for Secretary
My name is Magdalena Kitlowska, I am from Warsaw and I am honoured to be running for ISST Secretary. I am in interested in running for this role as it will afford me the opportunity to contribute to the ISST community and ultimately schema therapy.
I consider myself to be a person of integrity, honesty, openness and transparency. I am certainly apolitical and democratic. I chose my career destination in the field of Psychotherapy over 20 years ago, in order to help people and that has not changed and nor will it.
My background as a cross-cultural Psychologist and experience in delivering therapy to clients from many different countries and cultures gives me experience and allows me to be comfortable and non-judgemental in an international environment. I am also a group therapist, which has allowed me to build my leadership skills and helped me manage groups.
I always feel satisfied when I am able to see my patients, trainees and supervisees grow and become stronger. I am also honoured to be involved in committees such as the webinar committee and of course I am hugely proud and honoured to be the Chair for the RCMC where we are able to bring considerable help, assistance and training to those therapists in Ukraine enduring such hardships and difficulties during this time of war. If I were elected as Secretary, I would bring the same level of commitment I have given to my patients and the webinar and RCMC committees.
That said, it is my belief that a senior position within the EB of the ISST requires other skills for the benefit of an organisation of such magnitude- the Secretary handles a lot of organisational, marketing and administrative tasks. The ability to understand Marketing and the facets of Marketing and strategic planning will help disseminate Schema Therapy around the world while maintaining member satisfaction. My marketing experience was gained in the marketing department in the HQ of a major Japanese corporation and such experience was invaluable while being in charge of teams of therapists in various settings such hospitals and private practice.
I would very much like to and am excited by the prospect of bringing fresh thinking and ideas to the EB and the ISST and continue the excellent work of Richard Brouillette and I humbly accept the nomination for Board Secretary and hope that you will vote for me.
